McKenna + John

McKenna and John held their wedding at The American Civil War Museum at Historic Tredegar last fall. Originally built in 1837, the renovated museum and event space has an industrial vibe that is still warm and inviting.

Planning by For Love of Love elevated the industrial aesthetic by combining the exposed brick and iron infrastructure, with romantic and refined details to create the perfect backdrop for McKenna and John’s wedding.

McKenna’s overgrown bouquet was bursting with antique pinks, cream, and rust colored roses, as well as lisianthus, and blushing bride protea. Seeded eucalyptus and silver brunia added a bit of texture to her organic bouquet. McKenna’s bridesmaids held mostly greenery bouquets, with just a touch of cinnamon colored abelia.

The couple wanted to keep things simple for their ceremony, and became husband and wife flanked by two gestural all-greenery arrangements.

For the reception space, they wanted to create an installation that would feel super lush, and unexpected. Using loads of eucalyptus and Russian olive and magnolia, we designed a giant greenery chandelier that hung above the dance floor. Yards of sheer white fabric and twinkling lights were draped from the ceiling, adding a bit of romance to the clear tent that housed their reception.

Guest tables, dressed with classic black and white linens, were adorned with wild centerpieces filled with seasonal blooms, and eucalyptus garlands snaked across long wooden farm tables.

Samantha McFarlen Photography captured every effortlessly chic detail.

Congratulations McKenna and John!
